A quiet start to 2026
Oh, is it May already? Goodness me, I must have nodded off.
What have I done so far this year? Let’s have a think…
In February I performed my poem The Witch’s Hat as one of the Locals in the Limelight at this year’s Granite Noir literature festival here in Aberdeen.
In March my new book Capture Spiral was published by Temporal Boundary Press, a book that Ginger Nuts of Horror described as ‘one of the most original and haunting pieces of British life-writing in recent years’. On March 27th I launched the book at Somerville Books to a little audience.
Also in March my short story Vinegar and Brown Paper was narrated by Kristin Holland on his horror fiction podcast Nocturnal Transmissions.
Also also in March, the theatre company Keybored Works performed their version of my miniplay Adam and Yves at the New Wimbledon Theatre Studio.
Since the beginning of the year I have been steadily working on a collection of short stories, which have the draft title Dark-Adapted ‘I’. I would very much like to find a home for these stories.
As we go through May I am in the throes of submitting new works to two publications. Let’s see what happens to those.
This month one of my stories will be appearing in the Twelfth BHF Book of Horror Stories.
I think in the second half of the year I might actually get up off my arse and do something constructive. This apathy simply will not do.
